Move well, be active in flow

Your body has something to say. Every trail run, every training session, every climb speaks a language of sensation, strength, and sometimes, warning. But in the relentless pursuit of personal bests and summit views, it's easy to override the subtle messages your body sends—until they become impossible to ignore.

What if your injury isn't just asking to be fixed, but inviting you to understand something deeper?

At Inner Alchemy Source, we work with active adults who sense there's more to healing than symptom relief—people who are curious about what their body is trying to communicate, and excited to learn more about how they can best recover according to their unique design.

Heal with awareness. Move with vitality.

Is this approach right for you now?

We might be a good fit for working together if:

You notice what's happening in your body and you're curious about it. You've started paying attention to patterns—not just when pain shows up, but what preceded it, what makes it better or worse, and what your body might be asking for.

You're looking for a partner in your healing, not just a quick fix. You value practitioners who take time to understand you as a whole person, and you're willing to show up as an active participant in your recovery.

You ask deeper questions about your health and life. When something isn't working in your body, you are open to understanding if it's connected to how you're training, recovering, sleeping, managing stress, or even processing emotions.

You sense you have more agency in your healing than you've been using. You're ready to explore what your body is trying to tell you and discover your own capacity to influence your wellbeing.

You're open to exploring connections. You're curious about how your physical symptoms might relate to your emotional and mental wellbeing, and vice versa—and you're willing to explore those connections as part of your healing.

Why Active Adults Choose Acupuncture

It invites your own personal power. This isn't something done to you—it's a collaborative exploration. Your observations, your willingness to be curious, and your active engagement are essential parts of the healing process.

It works holistically. Rather than isolating injured tissues, we address the whole mind-body patterns contributing to breakdown and fatigue. We're interested in what your body is communicating through symptoms.

It enhances awareness. Acupuncture brings you back home in your body so you can continue to master technique, prevent injury, and deepen your connection to movement—but also so you can hear what's asking for attention.

It's performance-driven and person-centered. We're not just managing pain—we're optimizing function, endurance, and recovery while honoring you as a whole person navigating the beautiful complexity of being active in midlife.

It addresses the whole you. When other approaches have plateaued or only offered temporary relief, acupuncture at Inner Alchemy Source explores the hidden imbalances, compensatory patterns, and deeper stories keeping you stuck.

Common Challenges We Address

Overuse injuries

The activities we love can sometimes demand a lot from our bodies. When the same movement patterns repeat thousands of times—whether it's the impact of trail running, the torque of martial arts, or the stress of climbing—tissues break down faster than they can repair.

But here's what often goes unaddressed: Why did this particular tissue become vulnerable? What compensatory patterns preceded the injury? What is your body protecting?

Acupuncture increases blood flow to damaged tissues, reduces inflammation, and releases fascial restrictions. But more importantly, it heightens your somatic awareness so you can detect the deeper patterns and participate actively in preventing recurrence.

Common injuries we address include:

  • Tendonitis

  • Stubborn knee pain

  • Low back pain

  • Hip pain

  • Plantar fasciitis and other foot pain

  • Ankle pain

  • Neck and shoulder pain

Overtraining & deep fatigue

You know the feeling: legs that feel like tree trunks, motivation that's disappeared, performance that's plateaued despite increased effort. In Chinese Medicine, this is often a depletion of Qi (vital energy) and essence—resources that take intentional restoration, not just a rest day.

But we also ask: What is it that you really need right now? What might your fatigue be protecting you from or inviting you toward?

Our approach addresses the root depletion while helping you develop sustainable training rhythms—and deeper self-awareness—that honor your body's recovery capacity and unique constitution. Because longevity in your favorite activity matters more than short-term gains.

Chronic injuries that won't fully heal

That ankle that's "never been the same," the shoulder that flares up every training cycle, the knee that aches on descents—these incomplete healings often stem from unresolved scar tissue, compensation patterns, and nervous system guarding.

They can also stem from incomplete listening. Sometimes our body keeps signaling because we haven't yet understood what it's trying to communicate.

Acupuncture works at the junction of physical tissue and neurological patterning to restore function. But the real breakthrough often comes when you're willing to explore what else might be asking for attention.

What to Expect: Your First Acupuncture Visit

Your initial consultation is a deep dive. We explore your training history, injury patterns, energy levels, sleep, digestion, and stress response. We assess posture, movement patterns, and areas of restriction.

But we also explore your relationship with your body, your patterns of pushing through or pulling back, and what you're curious about beneath the surface symptoms. We create space for you to share what you're noticing—and what you're wondering about.

Together, we create a customized treatment plan designed for your specific goals and your unique patterns—whether that's returning to pain-free hiking, breaking through a performance plateau, preventing recurring injuries, or understanding what your body has been trying to tell you.

Most athletes notice improved sleep and reduced pain within 1-3 treatments, with cumulative benefits building over 6-12 sessions as deeper patterns resolve and new awareness integrates.

Our commitment to keeping you active for a lifetime

Inner Alchemy Source is passionate about helping active adults in San Marcos and North San Diego County reclaim their relationship with movement—and with themselves.

We understand that after reaching a certain age, the body no longer recovers as quickly as it used to. Injuries start to crop up, soreness becomes regular, and fatigue arrives more quickly. But we also understand that these changes invite us into a different kind of relationship with our bodies—one built on listening and curiosity, rather than “pushing through.”

We view acupuncture not as an operational medical procedure, but as a transformative practice. It's not about viewing your body as a machine in need of fixing. We view you as an integrated system where every tension, every imbalance, and every injury carries information that helps us get to the root.

When you bring curiosity, and a readiness to discover your innate capacity to restore wellbeing, the work we do together becomes more than injury recovery—it becomes a pathway to knowing yourself more deeply and moving through life with greater awareness and vitality.

FAQ’s

  • Acute injuries often respond well within 1-3 sessions. Chronic conditions typically require 6+ sessions for lasting change—especially when we're addressing deeper patterns, not just symptoms. We'll create a realistic timeline during your initial visit and adjust as we learn what your body needs.

  • Acupuncture is generally a painless experience, depending on one's perception and sensitivity. Most people describe it as very relaxing, and many actually fall asleep during the session. Deyna Libiran, L.Ac. has extensive training in Japanese style acupuncture, which strongly emphasizes painless needling.

  • Usually, yes—depending on the injury. If it's an injury that could become worse with activity, or if your doctor advises against it, we suggest you take a break. During your initial appointment, we'll guide you on which activities support recovery from a Chinese Medicine perspective. Part of this work is learning to listen to your body's signals about when to push and when to rest.

  • Deyna Libiran, L.Ac. does not take insurance. She values individualized, one-on-one, whole person medicine that creates space for the depth of exploration and partnership this work requires—an approach that is unfortunately not supported by insurance models.
